The three great monotheistic religions of humanity are Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and they appeared in history in that chronological order. This book does not seek to make a comparison of the three faiths, and it would be wrong to understand it as such. It does not, for example, present an adequate summary of either Judaism or Christianity. The book is an introduction: it is meant to whet the appetite, not to satisfy it.
